Apple hits 10 billion app downloads. Let the high fiving begin

There’s vast dust clouds rising over Apple’s HQs as the back slapping begins over the company’s incredible achievement of reaching the total of 10 billion app downloads from the Apple App Store.

Nearby residents of 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California, U.S. are no doubt currently filing noise complaints as hysteria strikes the teams of Apple-branded employees inside, with the valley resonating to the sound of extended whooping and the Gatling-gun rattle of mutual high-fiving.

Roadblocks have been reported as joyfully tearful logo-wearing employees have partaken in the traditional victory lap of honour around nearby blocks, with ambulances on hand to attend to injuries sustained from over enthusiastic high five ‘flypasts.’

Apple hits 10 billion app downloads. Let the high fiving begin

Apple recently started a countdown for the 10 billionth app with the promise of a cool $10,000 iTunes gift card to the person who downloaded it the landmark app.

We’ve no news on who that person is – or how they’d manage to spend £100k on iTunes – but with the countdown revealing that no less than 250 million downloads happened in just over a week, it’s likely that the 20 billion app total might be reached before the year is out.

Whoop!
