Cortana v Siri v Google Now – can the new Windows Phone voice assistant beat the rest?

Cortana v Siri v Google Now - can the new Windows Phone voice assistant beat the rest?

A handy comparison on Windows Phone Central pitches Microsoft’s new Cortana voice assistant against the competition, and the results make for interesting viewing.

The seven minute trial puts the three apps through their paces, asking a selection of questions like:

“Call Sam Sabri on Skype”
“What is the weather like on Tuesday?”
“Navigate to Dunkin Donuts”
“What is the best rated Indian restaurant around me?”
“Post a new Tweet”
“Foursquare check-in”

We have to say that we’re very impressed with Microsoft’s effort, which in some cases manages to improve on the existing voice apps, although it seems to lag behind in some areas – but it is only in beta.

Here’s the conclusion from the video:

We’ll let you decide but from our hands on tests, we can definitely say that Microsoft’s Cortana, even as a beta, can go head to head with Apple and Google. While there is still room for improvement, Microsoft has done a commendable job of offering a similar service to their competitors, and it shouldn’t be too long before they surpass them.
