iPhone controlled wi-fi drone wows the crowds [video]

Shown off at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco by the French company Parrot is their awesome flying quadricopter, a smart flying device controlled by an iPhone over Wi-Fi.

Controlling a soaring, buzzing birdy-thing by an iPhone is cool enough, but remarkably it also streams back live video to the handset, courtesy of its two built-in cameras.

It’s not a dumb drone either, as it has the ability to automatically stabilise and hover in the air, and can work inside and outside.

We can’t actually think of any use we’d have for an iPhone controlled helicopter thing, but it’s a pretty amazing use of technology with all sorts of possibilities.
