Kohjinsha Dual-Display PC netbook – small lappie, big screen

We didn’t think this would ever get past the concept stage, but Kohjinsha’s dual 10.1-inch netbook seems to be slowly edging towards reality, with a demo video running wild into the open arms of YouTube.

Packing two stacked 10inch screens that slide out to form one ultra-wide display, the Dual-Display PC isn’t that much thicker than a regular netbook.

Inside comes lurks the usual rather modest netbook gubbins of a 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, supported by a maximum 4GB of RAM and 160GB hard disk, with the slip-slidin’-screen machine powered by Windows 7.

Much as we love dual screen action (we’re about to invest in a positively cinematic pair of 24″ LCD screens for our office desktop), we’re not altogether sure that Kohjinsha’s is a particularly elegant or practical solution.

Moreover, double the screen is going to equal double the battery drain – and a major selling point of netbooks is their extended battery life

Naturally, there’s ne’er a whisper about availability (or if it will ever hit a full production line), but the wild 100,00 Yen pricing will make this netbook a highly improbable proposition for most folks.

Mind you, if your pockets are positively overflowing with spare cash and you’re mustard keen to join the twin screen set, we recommend you cast your eyes in the direction of Lenovo’s sensation W700 laptop, which is a veritable beast of a thing.
