Microsoft Kin social networking showcased on blurry video

It’s a hideously blurry video alright, but this seven minute clip does a great job of showing off some of the innovative features of Microsoft’s new Kin handsets.

We have to say we’re pretty impressed too.

The Kin OS is certainly different to anything else that is around at the moment and we particularly like the online ‘journal,’ which even lets users look up their text messages online if they’ve forgotten/lost their phones.

Curiously for something so clearly inspired by the Sidekick, there’s no Instant Messaging support (although we suspect that’s down to carrier pressure), but it could be argued that with all its social networking support plus SMS and MMS, the lack of IM isn’t quite the catastrophe is would have been a few years ago.
