Orange HTC Desire - Froyo update delayed until mid-September

HTC Desire owners on the UK Orange network are likely to be disappointed at the news that they’re not going to get the eagerly anticipated Android OS update until the middle of September.

Conor confounds

The news was relayed by Orange’s PR manager, Conor Maples, who tweeted the bad news that the Android Froyo 2.2 update has now been delayed, with no prospect of users upgrading their handsets until mid-Sept.

Less is definitely more

In later Tweets, Mr Maples explained that the delay wasn’t down to Orange fannying about and bolting on its own customised Orange services, adding that there will be less Orange customisation on the Froyo update than than the existing 2.1 version.

That can only be good news for Orange customers who currently have all sorts of unmoveable rubbish shunted on to their HTC Desires – even if the company are keeping them waiting for ages for the dross-clearing update.
