Robots invade Korean schools

We suspect that many UK small children would run screaming if one of these weird things came charging into their classroom, but after looking at these videos, it seems that Korean kids love ‘em.

In fact, Koreans seem very keen on robots in general, introducing a host of teaching aid robots into their schools, with the latest being KIST’s face robot FRi, which gyrates around like a penguin on drugs.

The robots are programmed to teach the English language, employing quizzes, ‘fill in the blanks’ challenges, correcting pronunciations and other such aids.

South Korea plans on releasing a whole fleet of these ‘advanced’ teaching aids into schools from February 2010. Let’s hope they don’t go rouge.
