Samsung Galaxy S3, Asus Google Nexus 7 and Transformer Prime scoop up T3 Awards

The prestigious  T3 Awards took place last night, and the Taiwanese company Asus managed to steal the show, picking up no less than five awards.

Scooping up the prestigious Gadget Of The Year top honour was the company’s sensational Google Nexus 7 tablet, which also bagged the  Tablet of the Year title ahead of competitors like the new Apple iPad3 and Galaxy Tab, while Samsung’s superb Galaxy S3 deservedly took home the Phone Of The Year award.

Asus was also triumphant in the Computer Of The Year category (Asus Zenbook UX31) and the  T3 Design Award (Eee Pad Transformer Prime), with the company also emerging triumphant in the Tech Brand of The Year category.

Apple – which traditionally expects to depart the T3 awards with armfuls of prizes – could only manage a single award in the rather unglamorous ‘Work Gadget Of The Year’ category for their iPhone 4S.

Elsewhere, the Innovation of the Year award went to the fantastic, UK-designed Raspberry Pi computer while Nike’s fuelband pocketed the Gadget Accessory of the Year award and Sony’s Bravia KDL-55HX853 was TV of the Year.

Sony’s PS Vita won Gaming Gadget of the Year, Sky Go snaffled the Digital Media Service of the year prize while Zeebox was selected as App of the Year.

Amazon  was crowned Retailer of the Year.

Bowers and Wilkins P3 headphones - a right pair of beauties for your noggin

Bowers & Wilkins’ P3 headphones won the Music Gadget award, Nest’s Smart Thermostat trousered the Home Gadget award, while Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-GX1 Micro Four Thirds compact system camera emerged as winner in the camera category.

Rounding up the awards, the BBC’s Rory Cellan-Jones won Tech Personality of the Year and Lord “You’re Fired!” Sugar went home with the Outstanding Contribution award.
