Sony Ericsson Xperia Play arrives in the UK, piggy banks prepare to be liberated

First announced back in February, the long launch delay has had gamers nervously twitching into their consoles for months, but now the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is finally being made available in the UK.

Launching on the O2 network in an exclusive white finish, the Android 2.3-powered handset promises access to 50 games from the moment you get it in your sweaty palms.

You’ll need deep pockets though, with O2 asking for £429.99 for the handset on a contract-free deal.

If that’s too rich for your depleted resources, you can also bag the phone for free, but only if you commit to a two year/£37 per month contract.

To try and make the deal seem slightly less fearsome, O2 are lobbing in 10 free games and a multimedia dock with online purchases for a limited period online.
