The location-based social networking service Foursquare has announced that it’s cruised past the landmark figure of one million check-ins during a single day.
While Google are busy bigging up their Latitude service, Facebook is getting ready to launch location-based status updates for its users, and making it available to opportunistic marketers like (spit!) McDonald’s.
Speaking at the Web 2.0 Expo yesterday, Google’s Steve Lee was quick to trumpet the growth of their Latitude service, while giving rivals Foursquare and MyTown a quick sand/face experience.

With a backing track so goddamn funky we were throwing our white suit jackets across the room, Google have released a video showing off their ‘Near Me Now’ feature.
The feature gives your phone the ability to search by using your location as the query.
To get jiggy with the new technology, simply hit Google.com on your iPhone or Android browser and click on the “Near me now” link once your phone has worked out where you.
