BlackBerry 6 mobile launched, some older models to get upgrade

After months of leaks, RIM has officially announced their all new BlackBerry 6 operating system.

The new mobile OS serves up a host of updates, a ”visual, fluid interface’  and a monstrously overdue decent web browser in the shape of a WebKit-based number, packing support for HTML5.

It seems that consumers and businesses have got over the sour taste left behind by the catastrophe that was the Windows Vista operating system, with its acclaimed Windows 7 follow-up quickly becoming the company’s  fastest-selling operating system, selling a staggering 150 million licenses since its launch last October.

11.2m Blackberries shifted as RIM breaks new sales record

Research In Motion (RIM) – makers of the Blackberry line of handsets – broke a company record yesterday as it shipped no less than 11.2 million BlackBerries in the last quarter – adding up to a 43 percent increase over the sales for the same period last year.

Man, those cats at Blackberry are laying down a heavy urban vibe, with their new all-dancing video showing that the company is no longer all about corporate suits, swivelling chairs, offices and appointments.

To prove that their new OS is funkier than an iPhone in a catsuit and rollerblades, Blackberry’s new promo video grooves along to an autotune-powered ‘Boom Boom Pow’ soundtrack from the Black Eyed Peas.
