We’ve documented our long and depressing history of the major problems we’ve been suffering with out Humax PVR-9200T PVR, but with the player becoming even more unreliable and no fix from Humax in sight, we suspect a hammer/PVR interface may be happening soon.

Like many of our readers, we’ve been fuming over the problems our Humax PVR players have been suffering, with the machines suffering a frustrating mixture of unbearable slow downs, freezes and unresponsive remote controls.
Despite a flurry of emails and promises, Humax have been reluctant to actually name the date when the problem will be fixed – but today they have at least informed us of the availability of a beta trial.

Humax has announced details of its new HDR-Fox T2 Freeview HD recorder, with the launch date set rather foolishly after the World Cup. Doh!
The HDR-FOX T2 offers just a 500GB hard drive – something we’d imagine will fill up pretty sharpish with all those lovely HD recordings – plus an eight-day EPG, series recording, schedule tracking and split recording.

Some Humax PVR users have been an unhappy lot recently, suffering fairly major performance issues with their units.
We’ve got two PVR-9200T units, both of which have been blighted by annoyances like slow updates, non responding remote controls and frozen players.

Like a load of Humax users, we’ve been miffed off to the max with the increasingly patchy performance from our Humax PVR units.
As we reported recently, our PVRs have been slowing down to a crawl, freezing completely, refusing to turn off when the unit is switched off and – worst of all – missing vital recordings of Cardiff City’s play-off securing Championship season.

We’ve been using two Humax PVT 9200T freeview digital set-top boxes around the office for nearly two years, and in recent months we’ve been suffering increasing problems with the units.
Both have suffered rapidly degrading performances, with the remotes failing to work at times, the fans refusing to turn off when the unit is switched off, and recordings being missed because the unit has ‘stuck.’

Just in time for the World Cup – and the inevitable English disappointment – Philips will be wheeling out two new Freeview HD set-top boxes, snappily named the Philips HDT8520 HD PVR and DTR5520 HD receiver (who dreams up these awful names?).
