Humax PVR-9200T now in real danger of being smashed to pieces

It wasn’t that long ago that we were so fed up with the endless problems we were having with our Humax PVR-9200T/9300T PVR boxes that smashing the things to smithereens was becoming an ever more attractive option.

Humax PVR-9200T now in real danger of being smashed to pieces

We’ve documented our long and depressing history of the major problems we’ve been suffering with out Humax PVR-9200T PVR, but with the player becoming even more unreliable and no fix from Humax in sight, we suspect a hammer/PVR interface may be happening soon.

Humax PVT 9200T PVR - problems, slow performance and freezes

Like many of our readers, we’ve been fuming over the problems our Humax PVR players have been suffering, with the machines suffering a frustrating mixture of unbearable slow downs, freezes and unresponsive remote controls.

Despite a flurry of  emails and promises, Humax have been reluctant  to actually name the date when the problem will be fixed – but today they have  at least informed us of the availability of a beta trial.

Humax HDR-Fox T2 Freeview HD recorder – caveat emptor!

May 18th, 2010 11:22am 2 comments

Humax has announced details of  its new HDR-Fox T2 Freeview HD recorder, with the launch date set rather foolishly after the World Cup. Doh!

The HDR-FOX T2 offers just a  500GB hard drive – something we’d imagine will fill up pretty sharpish with all those lovely  HD recordings – plus an eight-day EPG, series recording, schedule tracking and split recording.

Humax PVT 9200T PVR - problems, slow performance and freezes

Like a load of Humax users, we’ve been miffed off to the max with the increasingly patchy performance from our Humax PVR units.

As we reported recently, our PVRs have been slowing down to a crawl, freezing completely, refusing to turn off when the unit is switched off and – worst of all – missing vital  recordings of Cardiff City’s play-off securing Championship season.

Humax PVT 9200T PVR - problems, slow performance and freezes

We’ve been using two Humax PVT 9200T freeview digital set-top boxes around the office for nearly two years, and in recent months we’ve been suffering increasing problems with the units.

Both have suffered rapidly degrading performances, with the remotes failing to work at times, the fans refusing to turn off when the unit is switched off, and recordings being missed because the unit has ‘stuck.’
