Logitech has launched a low cost universal remote control, designed to replace the growing clutter of remotes no doubt currently festooned all over your living room coffee table.
Its palm-friendly shape means that it may be in danger of being involuntarily lobbed at the gogglebox when the opposition score an injury-time winner, but for calmer viewers, the GlideTV Navigator may be the perfect accompaniment for an evening’s viewing.
With an ergonomic, ball-like form factor, the Navigator is a trackpad remote designed to operate multimedia devices like a Home Theatre PC, AppleTV, Boxee, PS3, Windows Media Centre or Mac.

Wooed by its sci-fi looks, we decided to give the ONE FOR ALL Kameleon URC8308 Remote Control a run, a 35 quid number with the ability to boss up to eight devices as well as optionally control lighting systems too.
Opening up the package, the first impressions are good: the Tron-like electro-luminescent buttons are bright and the shiny, curved chrome finish was already starting to make our room look scruffy and outdated.

Last year’s attempt to replace our flotilla of remote controls with a snazzy all-in one universal handset met with deeply disappointing results (we tried the One For All Kameleon 8 – it was awful), but we decided to wave a bigger wad at the problem and give the Logitech Harmony 785 Advanced Universal Remote a go. And we were impressed.
