HTC has announced its latest big’n'beefy smartphone, the HTC Rezound, an 4G LTE Android number headed for Verizon Wireless in the States and packing HTC’s Beats Audio technology.

The web is full of ghastly videos of over-excited, blue-shirted Apple employees high-fiving anyone insane enough to wait in a queue for a new iPhone overnight, but it seems that the hype has stopped dead at the Apple store in the Mall of America – one of the largest malls in the US.

We love seeing big corporates taking pot shots at each other, and Verizon’s hilariously over the top onslaught against the iPhone really is worth a view.
Backed by a testosterone-fuelled voice-over and featuring lightning bolts, Scud missiles, little porcelain lambs being crushed and a circular saw cutting through a ripe banana (really!), the gloriously macho ad slams into phones that are, “tiara-wearing digitally clueless beauty pageant queens.”

It looks like there’s not much festive spirit being generated by Verizon towards their neighbours, as the US network launches a TV offensive on rival network AT&T.
A set of 30 second video adverts have focussed on AT&T’s allegedly dreadful 3G network coverage, and take a fairly hefty swipe at the iPhone in the bargain.
