
It has to be said that Apple’s Siri voice assistant didn’t exactly impress us – there’s only so many times you can pointlessly shout into your phone and go nowhere – but a new app called Evi is shaping up to be a worthwhile competitor.

Although many Android phones have had voice control for some time, none have been able to match the smoothness of the integrated offering included in Apple’s iOS.
The launch of Cluzee, a “talking” intelligent virtual personal digital assistant, looks set to offer a similar service to Android users, combining voice recognition, voice synthesis, personal analytics, smart filters and machine learning.

Google has now extended the full range of its groovy Voice Actions for Android to UK users – as well as introducing the service for voice-activatin’ types in France, Italy, Germany and Spain (with the service supporting the relevant local languages).

Google have taken the wraps off their new and all-enhanced Voice Actions app for the Android mobile operating system, and we reckon we’re seeing a glimpse of what could be the future of mobile phones.
