Twitter invaded by monster letters of doom!

Folks logging into the their Twitter accounts online have been rather startled to discover immense blue letters and black boxes covering the  page.

Letters of doom

Quickly being described as “letters of doom,” some Twitter home pages have been trashed by a newly discovered ‘onMouseOver’ JavaScript exploit.

Tweetastrophe

Whenever a user moved their mouse over a dodgy tweet, Tweetageddon would follow, with Tweets being automatically reposted, users redicted and the 100 foot tall letters appearing all over the shop.

Some reports suggest that the letters can in fact be seen from space, if a suitably large monitor could be found.

Security boffin Graham Cluley of Sophos commented: ‘It looks like many users are currently using the flaw for fun and games, but there is obviously the potential for cybercriminals to redirect users to third-party websites containing malicious code, or for spam advertising pop-ups to be displayed.”

We reckon you should just leave Twitter alone for a while until they sort it out, although some people are suggesting it actually looks better with the new design.
