The only way that open source Linux or OS-X can compete with the MS Juggernaut @ all is to outperform them on every level Speed,Hardware Software Compatibility,Cost,Marketing, & Flaw patching.. But for now no ones stepped up to that challenge "sigh"

this failed when i could not find hardware drivers.

I agree MS is currently head and shoulders above linux in drivers But in defense of Linux the drivers “or @ least a workaround” is available in most modern Linux distributions.

As for MS Seven it’s Vista in a shiny optimized package “but still Vista” Unfortunately it’s going to be the only mainstream game in town for the next 10 years.

Some people clearly do upgrade to newer versions of Windows, and a few leave MS behind totally for Linux, and if you build your own PC, choosing and installing an OS is all part of that. However I bet a sizeable majority of people buy a computer with an operating system from Comet/Currys/PC world/wherever and that operating system stays on it until it breaks or is scrapped. I suspect these stats, as much as anything, tell us how old peoples PCs are. I wonder how many people actually choose an operating system?
