Apple reveals new iPod Touch with FaceTime, HD video and Retina Display

As expected, Apple’s iPod touch has received a sprinkling of fairy dust, with Steve Jobs announcing a shiner, all-new, revamped version today.

The latest “iPhone without the phone” now includes the impressive, high resolution Retina Display as seen on the iPhone 4, and there’s now FaceTime support, courtesy of a front-facing cam, letting users have video chats over Wi-Fi.

HD Video

More goodies come in the shape of an ungraded Apple A4 CPU, 3-axis gyroscope, iOS 4.1 with Game Center and a rear cam capable of recording HD video.

All this goodness comes at a price though, with the US prices being announced at  $229 for 8GB, $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB. Users hoping for 16GB and 128GB versions are going to be disappointed, though.
