We definitely like things that light up at Wirefresh, so Logitech’s new Wireless Illuminated Keyboard K800 is piquing our interest in no uncertain terms.

The latest Logitech keyboard doesn’t just give your desktop a flourish of the Blackpool illuminations – it also packs ambient light and motion sensors.

The ambient light sensors automatically adjust the backlighting required, while the motion sensors detect your mitts as they approach to turn the lights on and turn it back off when your hands move away.

According to Logitech, all this wizardry will provide up to 10 days of battery life without recharging.

Form and function pleasuring

“The Wireless Illuminated Keyboard K800 is perfect for someone who values both form and function,” purred Denis Pavillard, vice president of product marketing for Logitech’s keyboards and desktops.

“The Wireless Illuminated K800 keyboard includes features that make it a standout — smart backlighting, Logitech Unifying technology, our PerfectStroke key system and Logitech Incurve keys – and presents it all in a very stylish and sleek package that’s sure to please.”

USB recharging

The keyboard can also hook up to a micro-USB cable to let you recharge as you type, and there’s Logitech’s PerfectStroke key system to keep the clattering noises at bay, while Logitech’s Incurve keys apparently, “invite your fingertips to glide from key to key, hour after hour.”

Not fade away

The company say that the letters and characters on the keys are very durable and won’t wear off, which is more than we can say for the top of-the-range Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard we’re typing this on.

That has already completely lost the ‘a’, ‘e’, ‘o and ‘l’ legends and the ‘i’, ‘n’ and ‘m’ letters aren’t long for this world either.

The Wireless Illuminated Keyboard K800 comes with a teensy weensy receiver using advanced 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity so you can leave it in your laptop and not lose it.

We’re loving all the glowing goodness, but it comes at a premium price, with  the K800 retailing for around a dazzling £90 in September.
