Nokia's 'world's biggest signpost' in London

Seen swaying in the winter breeze close to the iconic Tower Bridge in London for two weeks was Nokia’s whopping great ‘interactive installation,’ which featured a mahoosive arrow suspended in the air.

Built to show off their new mobile navigation features, the structure weighed 60 tons and stood 50m in the air. The arrow itself was as big as two double decker buses.

The arrow was motorised, so passers by could directly text the sign requests for directions, and the big sign would spin into action, physically rotating the arrow to point in the correct direction and display the distance.

Nokia insist the publicity stunt did the job and introduced a lot of people to their new navigation services, but we’re rather miffed we missed it – and wonder if anyone got around to hacking the sign when it was working.

Could you imagine the high jinx to be had?
