NASA release Moonbase Alpha video game

NASA has released a trailer for their new 3-D game set on the Moon called,  “Moonbase Alpha”.

The game invites players to “step into the role of an exploration team member in a futuristic 3-D lunar settlement.”

In the game, a beastly meteor strike has damaged solar arrays and life support systems, so you have to Moonwalk your way around the lunar surface in double quick bouncey-bounce time to restore critical systems and get the oxygen flowing again.

NASA say that the game offers, “realistic NASA exploration scenarios” and “immersive 3D graphics,” with solo or team play available, plus in-game VOIP chat and  text chat.

The game was created by NASA’s Learning Technologies division in the hope of inspiring kids to start thinking about hover boots, jetpacks and C-beams glittering in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate.

The free game will be available from  July 6.
