Nokia’s latest Symbian S40 smartphone has just arrived onstage after a lengthy drum roll, so say hello to the entry-level C3.

Aimed at cash strapped lovers of all things keyboardy, the Nokia C3 is their first S40 device to offer a full QWERTY keyboard and comes with all the expected social networking bells and whistles, accessible via the ‘Communities’ app.

With Nokia Messaging comes one click access to Ovi Mail (for easy email account creation right on the device) and Ovi Chat (for keeping in touch with your friends). The Nokia C3 also boasts conversational SMS chat, so you can keep on top of your text dialogue and you’ll find your favourite contacts right there on the homescreen, where you’ll also see news and alerts

The handsets packs a 2.4-inch QVGA display,  up to 8GB storage, 3.5mm audio jack and 2MP camera complete with 4x zoom – and there’s a handy FM radio onboard too, which we like very much (an FM radio is pretty much an essential if you’re a footie fan).

The Nokia ticks most of the connectivity boxes with WLAN, 3G and Bluetooth and comes in Golden White, Slate Grey and a masculinity-challenging Hot Pink.

There’s no firm pricing and availability quite yet (although Nokia say ‘around €90′), but we reckon it’ll put in an appearance at the end of this month or in early May.

Looks a lot like a reworking of the E71, which is the phone I’m using now. It’s a great handset, very sturdy and able to do good stuff like browse the internet, push email, connect your netbook to the internet via usb, play mp3s from an SD card etc etc. I’d rather have one of these on PAYG for £80 than pay £50 pcm for an iphone.
