Sony HX9V and HX100V Cyber-shot cameras leaked

Sony upcoming Cyber-shots HX9V and HX100V cameras leaked

We used to be big fans of Sony’s Cyber-shot cameras – back in the day we used to love the sneaky, swivellin’  Sony Cybershot DSC-F55DX and the earlier Sony Cybershot DSC-F55E camera that dated all the way back to 1999, but in recent years we’ve drifted on to other brands.

Keen to win back a bigger slice of the compact camera market are two new Cyber-shot models, the HX9V and HX100V, and both look rather dandy to our eyes.

Inadvertently leaked online by US photo equipment retailer B&H, the specs of the Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V look to be a very decent offering.

The camera will come with a 16-megapixel Exmor R CMOS image sensor, a 3-inch LCD, full-HD video recording, 3D Sweep Panorama, and built in optical image stabiliser.

24mm zoom

The 16x wide angle optical zoom lens covers a very useful range from 24mm to 384mm, although that mahoosive range comes at the expense of a slower lens than we’d like, at f3.3-5.9.

The DSC-HX9V looks like it’s aimed at the enthusiast market, with manual exposure controls, stereo audio capture and a pop-up flash.

The companion HX100V camera  has the same specs and a 16-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, but with the addition of a heftier 30x zoom range (27mm to 810mm).

Sony is expected to formally announcement these cameras on February 2.
