Tottenham Court Road, London’s electronics capital, falls into terminal decline

Our sister site, urban75, has run an interesting piece documenting the decline of what was once London’s most famous street for electronics,  Tottenham Court Road.

Once lined with electronic shops – mainly independent – Tottenham Court Road used to be the only place to go if you were looking to buy hi-fi, computer gear or other consumer electronics, but in recent years has lost custom because of the growth of Internet shopping.

Now only a relative handful of electronics stores remain, and we suspect that many of them won’t be around in a year’s time.
