US teens are, like, so over chatting on the phone

After questioning 500 US teens via social networking sites, online consumer market research bods lab42 discovered that 71 per cent of respondents apparently preferred texting to phone calling.

Labelling their study “Generation Text” the swishy infographic points out that 45 per cent of teens hammer their handsets with at least 30 texts a day, while picture messaging (MMS) remains far more of a niche activity, with the majority (51 per cent) sending just ‘a few’ every month.

Other studies have put the numbers for teen texting even higher: recent research by MSN Money concluded that each US teen blasted out an average of 3,339 texts per month.

Anyway, enough of our yackin’ – here’s the infographic for your delectation.
