Acer’s new Stream Android smartphone is set to saunter into the UK this August, with a contract-free price of £399.99.
The SIM free handset will be sold exclusively by online retailer Expansys, who expect to start shifting units from August 3rd.
Where’s the flash?
Serving up a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen (800 x 400 pixels), 5-megapixel camera (with autofocus but no flash – bah!) and an HDMI output, the Acer Stream sits itself down firmly in HTC Desire territory, and perhaps provides a reasonably tempting alternative (although we’re not exactly enamoured with its looks).
Connectivity options abound with triband 900/1900/2100 HSDPA/HSUPA, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 and there’s also GPS and DLNA media sharing, with 2GB of onboard memory and a microSD card slot taking care of the storage options.
Video recording comes in the shape of 720p HD video at 30fps, with the handset motoring along nicely on Qualcomm’s familiar 1GHz Snapdragon chipset.
The Stream runs OS is Android 2.1, and if it’s already causing a commotion in your underpants, you can preorder it now from Expansys.
