Android hits the staggering landmark of half a million activations per day

Android founder and current Senior Vice President of Mobile at Google, Andy Rubin, has thrown down the latest sensational fact about the growth of the Android platform, revealing that over half a million Android devices are now activated every day.

Rubin pegs the rate of growth of the mobile OS at an incredible 4.4% week on week, adding up to an incredible rise in popularity for the Apple iOS rival.

The increase is staggering: only last month Google were reporting 400,000 Android daily activations, so hitting the 500,000 daily activations landmark so soon really is some achievement.
