French kids try to work out what old music technology does

Here’s a lovely video clip showing French children trying to work out what various bits of old technology were used for.

We’d never seen a portable 8-track player before, so we’re not surprised they were baffled by that, but the look on the kid’s face when he gets to play with vinyl is priceless.

He starts to enjoy himself by doing some scratching that the teacher hastily grabs it away!

  1. Isn’t it scary there are already primary school children who don’t know what a 3.5 inch floppy is?

It’s fun to play this game in reverse too.

Imagine yourself in the mid 1980s trying to figure out what the modern tech is. Something like a nintendo DS would be easy to work out – it’s not a million miles from a ‘Game and watch’ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Game%26Watch-donkey-kong-1.jpg. And you might just about be able to figure a DVD. But how would you get on with an SD card, or a USB flash drive?
