Google's new wdyl.com website asks 'What Do You Love?'

Surreptitiously slipping out of dock like a ghost ship on a foggy night, Google have silently despatched a new web site onto the Internet seas, in the shape of wdyl.com (‘What Do You Love’).

Borne out of a mission to create a unified UI to search across multiple channels, the new site lets users search for a phrase and get a single page of relevant results displaying a slew of Google products.

To up the cuteness quotant, the search button is heart-shaped too.

Naturally, we started by searching for the extra-lovable ‘Cardiff City FC’ and were rewarded with a Google product-stuffed page showing a Google Map, a Sketch Up 3D model of the stadium and links to Cardiff City videos (be still, beating hearts) plus photos, news and links to a host of other Google services.

Curiously, when we typed in ‘porn’ (well, we had to test the services properly), Google decided that it lived in Indonesia, while the section for Google Earth invited us to ‘Scour the earth for porn.’ And that’s not an invitation we get every day.

To be honest, we can’t really think of any productive use for this new site, but it is rather well designed and certainly acts as a good showcase for Google’s services.
