LG liberates the big-screen Optimus G Pro smartphone with 1080p display and neat camera features

LG has announced that the Korean launch of their new LG Optimus G Pro smartphone will be taking place later this week, with the high end HD device hopefully heading West soon after.

It’s a beefy mo’fo’ alright, packing s a 5.5-inch 1080p display and a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, backed by 2GB of onboard DDR RAM and 32 GB of storage memory, expandable via a microSD memory slot.

There’s a 13-megapixel camera around the back, which comes with a new feature called Dual Recording, a rather clever video capture mode which simultaneously uses both the front and the rear camera, while the VR Panorama feature lets users shoot a horizontal or vertical 360-degree panorama.

Keeping all this lovely tech up and running is mahoosive 3,140mAh battery.

Running on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS, the handset will appear at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona between Feb 25-28, where hopefully the all-important price will be announced, along with availability outside of South Korea.
