Watchmaker Nixon has whisked out its first Android Wear-based product, in the shape of the tough Misssion watch which takes to the snowy outdoors like a husky on heat.

Water resistant up to 100 metres/10 ATM and packed in an shock resistant case protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass display, this watch is built for the great outdoors and is hoping to rip open the wallets of surfing, snowboarding, and skiing types.

The watch comes equipped with a suite of software powered by Surfline and Snocountry, allowing real-time condition information for surfing, and there’s GPS and navigation onboard too, along with the usual messaging alerts, plus a video remote and gesture control.

The watch is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 system-on-chip and will be available in a host of different colours – and 20 band options for the fashion conscious – later this year.

The watch is expected to cost around $400 – see more at nixon.com/mens-smart.
