Sony Ericsson Aspen: hands-on video shows off the new Windows Mobile 6.5.3 OS

Sony Ericsson Aspen: video first lookA hands on video has been posted up showing Sony Ericsson’s new candybar Aspen handset (also known as the Sony Ericsson Faith) in action.

Sporting a screen shinier than the beady eye of the Shiny Eyed Eagle, the Aspen runs the all-new Windows Mobile 6.5.3 mobile operating system.

The interface sure looks goddam funky, with plentiful supplies of smooth animations and flipping screens, although lurking within camerashot is the ominous presence of the Aspen’s built in stylus.

Sony Ericsson Aspen: video first look

The Aspen is a little bit bigger than we expected – it’s put up next to an iPhone and threatens to dwarf the thing – but we can see it being an decent alternative for the Blackberry market.

We’re big fans of proper QWERTY keyboards too, although we would have preferred a bigger screen than the rather paltry  2.4-inch QVGA 320 × 240 pixels affair on the Aspen.

The handset is scheduled for release in the second quarter of this year.
