As part of our job, we’re tasked with rummaging around finding interesting nuggets of information, hot news and exciting launches to share with you, but when an Apple product launch is due something rather strange happens.
Normally sensible sites and intelligent writers become gripped in a bizarre frenzy which compels them to post up a stream of wild guesses, source-free flights of fantasy, vague hunches and daft yarns based on the most speculative of claims, and shunt all this fiction into their ‘news’ sections.

The filmiest of rumours are circulating that the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus could be heading in the direction of a European carrier next month.
Advert-bedecked UK tech blog Tracy and Matt are reporting that an anonymous tipster contacted them to say that o2 will start carrying the Pixi Plus and the Pre Plus.

With Apple’s big announcement coming up on the 27th January, leaks/rumours/wild guesses are reaching fever pitch across the web.
Tech site Boy Genius thinks it’s got the skinny on a few choice snippets about the next-gen iPhone 4.0 features – and it includes some things we’ve heard before and some things we’re getting a bit excited about.

According to Gizmodo – who seem to have positioned a sizeable bucket under Microsoft’s seriously leaky New Products department – these are photos of the ‘Project Pink’ secret new phone range.

The phones are supposedly going to be made and co-branded by Sharp, with the Pink range aimed at the same yoot demographic as the Sidekick – which was also made by Sharp and proved something of a hit in the US.
