New figures released by the PC Gaming Alliance reveal that far from being on the ropes, PC gaming remains very much alive, with shipping volumes for the platform being twice the size of the combined amounts of all the major consoles last year.

Microsoft has officially announced Project Kinect, their new motion-sensor peripheral for the Xbox 360.
Formerly known as Project Natal, the Kinect is the revolutionary control system for video games using a camera, motion-sensors, microphones and advanced software to allow Xbox 360 owners to play games without having to plug in traditional control pads.

Long term Nintendo fans will know the sometimes weird and wonderful shapes that the controllers have taken over the years, starting from a clunky’n'chunky rectangular number in 1985.
Skip forward to 1996, and the thing had become a spaceship-shaped oddity, before settling down to the fantastically simple Wii controller we all know and love.

It’s been a firm favourite in the Wirefresh offices for years, and we’ve spent untold hours waving our Wii controllers around in the air, so it comes as no surprise to find that Nintendo’s Wii gaming console is now the fastest selling console in UK history.
Independent performance and sales tracking bods, Chart Track-GfK, have rummaged through the figures and discovered that the Wii has now sold more than six million units in the UK since launching on 8 December 2006.

The BBC has teamed up with gaming giants Nintendo to launch a new and improved version of the iPlayer catch-up service for the Nintendo Wii gaming console.
Following the launch of the iPlayer for the Playstation network in September, the new version improves on the frankly rubbish original which we found so clunky that we quickly abandoned it.
The new iPlayer channel will be available to download from November 18, and the BBC are hoping that it will prove a hit among the one million Wii users in the UK.

Wii Fit Plus, the follow up to the massively popular Nintendo Wii Fit exercise game, should be stacking up on shop shelves today in plenty of time for the Christmas rush.
In addition to all the original Wii Fit features, the updated (ahem) “exertainment” game offers no less than fifteen new balance-board exercises, plus six new strength and yoga programmes to coax lardy sofa surfers into some sort of shape.
