Our recent article comparing the new Panasonic Lumix LX5 and Canon Powershot S95 high end cameras has resulted in us getting a fair bit of email, so we thought we’d post a follow up article answering some of the points raised.

Canon has announced their new Canon EOS 60D dSLR, a mid-priced camera offering an 18megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and articulated LCD display.

There’s no shortage of photo effects software available on the Android platform, but we think we’ve found our absolute favourite in the shape of the Vignette app created by the homely-sounding “neilandtheresa” developers.

It’s been our favourite digital compact camera for around two years now, and it’s good to see Panasonic still supporting this venerable high end snapper, even after its replacement, the Lumix LX5 has been announced.

In case you hadn’t noticed, the world’s going 3D-tastic, with TV, video, gaming and camera manufacturers all scrambling to grab a piece of the action.
After announcing the world’s first 3D consumer camcorder (see below), Panasonic have now unveiled its plans to release an interchangeable 3D lens for the Micro Four Thirds system.

We’re not sure where this gigapixel madness is going to end, but we are rather enjoying seeing the incredible results of this latest record breaker, in the shape of a mahoosive panorama from Budapest.

The video may be called “Guy Walks Across America,” but it seems he didn’t literally cover every step, but what the hell: it’s still a great piece of creative cinematography, and nicely shows off what the current generation of Canon dSLRs are capable of.

Another flurry of product shunting activity at Panasonic has seen the company announcing their new Lumix DMC-FX700 touch-screen digital compact.

With chests puffed out, Fujifilm have proudly announced themselves to be the creators of the world’s smallest 18x zoom camera in the shape of FinePix S2800HD.
