UK company Tranquil have released a novel, super-slim Windows 7 media centre PC designed to slip into a home hi-fi stack.
Measuring just 1.5in thick and minimally styled in a stylish matt black finish, the unit looks more like an audiophile CD player than a PC, with the front panel containing nothing more than an on/off button and a CD/DVD writer slot.

There’s no end of weird and wonderful looking powered speakers available for hooking up to iPods, MP3 players and computers, but we were only interested in one thing for Chez Wirefresh: the best possible sound.
Seeing as we listen to music in our office all day long – either blasting out Spotify/Media Monkey through our PC, or playing tunes from iPhones or our Pure DMX-60 DAB/CD player – our budget stretched to around £250.

Boy, do audiophiles have to suffer for their obsession.
Buying a half decent hi-fi, cracking open a beer and blasting out a bit of ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ – digitally remastered, natch – is never enough for these guys (and it is almost always guys into this kind of stuff).

According to a new report, the demand for vinyl and turntables is soaring, with the rise particularly evident in New York, where audio outlets are reporting huge increases in LP and turntables sales.
