We’ve loved the look of Olympus’s stunning E-P1, E-P2 and E-PL1 Micro Four Thirds cameras for yonks, but one of the factors that nudged us towards getting the rival Panasonic Lumix GF-1 compact was focussing speed.
Although the Olympus snappers weren’t exactly slouches, the slightly faster speed of the Lumix could be the difference between a great shot and a nearly-great shot. And no one remembers the one you nearly got.

Olympus has released another Micro Four Thirds camera, the PEN E-PL1 and aggressively priced it at $200 cheaper than the earlier E-P1, while still packing in the high end features.
The new PEN camera will offer the same 12.3-megapixel sensor and 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 zoom lens as its predecessor and also come with a built in flash – something that’s been sorely missing from their earlier Micro Four Thirds cameras.
